The Yankees 6-3 victory over the Cleveland Indians provided a glimpse of what could be. Balanced pitching combined with potent power is a lethal combination.Mike Mussina mesmerized the Indians for four innings with an assortment of slow motion hooks and well placed 80ish fastballs. The bubble burst in the 5Th but Moose turned over a 4-3 lead to the bullpen. He did his job. The pen provided relief as Ohlendorf, Chamberlain and the Great Rivera recorded 12 outs.
The quality pitching was supported by a four homer power surge. Giambi, Betemit and Cano shook their dormancy to provide a spark. They did their jobs.
The Yankees .500 record attests to the fact that days like this aren't routine. Today's matinee in the Bronx provided a pleasant reminder of what's possible when everyone does their job.
